French Croix de Guerre
 
Criteria
Awarded for service in a campaign flying with the French Air Force (as for instance in the AirWar), during which the recipient flew as a Frenchman in French colours, as grateful recognition by the French nation of that service.
 
History
The Croix de Guerre was instituted on the 8th of April 1915. It was awarded for bravery to service personnel mentioned in despatches. It was awarded to six RFC and later RAF personnel between 1915 and 1918.
