Criteria |
| Awarded for service in a campaign flying with the Russian Air Force (as
for instance in the AirWar), during which the recipient flew as a Russian
in Russian colours, as grateful recognition by the Russian nation of that
service. |

| History |
| The Order of St Vladimir was established by the Empress Catherine II of
Russia on the 22nd of September 1782. Originally a civil award, it was
awarded for military gallantry ("with swords") from the Crimean
War onwards. It was occasionally awarded to foreign servicemen. |
